It's a meditation, the world suddenly melts away and all there is is me and the material.
I found my passion for creating jewelry in 2012.
In 2013, wanting to expand my skill set, I enrolled in a Graduate program in Jewelry and Metal Arts, focusing on a conceptual collection for my thesis, allowing myself to make anything, as long as it fit with my concept of "Nature as Empowerment". Three years of classes and formal training culminated with a 15 piece collection of artistic works, which you can see here. I have always been fascinated by stones and this comes through in all my work, all my life, but my current passion is texture and combining materials+processes. All my pieces have a textural feel to them, which is accomplished by hand-fabrication and wax carving. Creating the texture you see in my work requires intense focus, and is a type of meditation. The world suddenly melts away, and all there is is me and the material. I am a one-woman show, working in my studio in Santa Monica, California, and my absolute favorite part of it all is the creation process. So you can rest assured knowing that my heart is in every piece, and have done so in a state of joy. The goal is for my pieces make you feel confident and empowered, and that they bring you the same happiness they bring me. Each piece is unique as it is almost impossible to make replicable pieces by hand. |
